Thanks so much:) Unfortunately, I think I’ve hit a roadbump. I finished the DVD, with the final bitrate being 2.964 (low I know). The final DVD size is 8.3 GB. Here are a few more of my settings:

    – Output type: DDP 1.20
    – DVD Type: DVD-9 (8.5 GB)
    – Number of layers: 2
    – Resolution: 720 x 480
    – Format: MPEG-II
    – Audio: AC-3 Stereo
    – Audio Bitrate: 192

When I first prepared my DVD, I got an error message stating the VOB files were too large for the type of DVD I was trying to create. I checked my settings and found that it was trying to prepare a DVD-5 (4.7 GB) DVD from an 8.3 GB project. That’s when I set it to DVD-9, as you can see above. However, I just tried preparing the project again and got the SAME error! This is deeply aggrivating. Why is it saying that it cant make a 8.5 GB DVD from an 8.3 GB project???

Haha umm I’m sort of a Sony amateur, what does all that mean?

When you say 3,800, do you mean 3.80? The scene selection menu takes up all of the space, with each menu having 10 links on it. The background media runs about two-four minutes. It’s just a slow moving background. The film itself is 2.5 hrs long, 6 GB, and is made up of film and photos. The render quality was 720 x 480 MPEG-II, audio included. The quality was HDV 30p if I remember correctly. I used this render setting for all background medias as well.

  • But I’ve burned movs to DVD b4 n they worked fine. Why is that?

  • Although I want a YouTube widescreen format, the video is going to be burned to a DVD. Would it still be clear on a TV?

  • That totally makes sense. But how do I correct the problem? Are there any low memory templates I could use instead that will give me the same results? I tried MPEG1 and MPEG2 but the custom window wouldn’t open. My specs on my current template are:

    Width: 640
    Height: 360
    Frame Rate: 29.970000
    Field Order: None
    Pixel Aspect: 1.000
    Video Format: MPEG-4 Video
    Compressed Depth: 24 bpp color
    Quality: High (100%)
    Data Rate: Unconstrained
    Key Every: 3 Frames
    Audio: Uncompressed
    Render Quality: Best
    Optimization: Fast Start

I’m shooting for a nice HQ widescreen video (the kind of widescreen that is YouTube widescreen). But your explanation makes sense… the video only displays the error after it has rendered the entire project. What other templates can I use?

  • Some are MPEG2 filmed on my Sony Handycam. Some are prerendered movs n some are movs from my iPhone.
