Yes, yes and maybe.

SKYPE calls can be recorded in multitrack, but plain old ordinary playback may only be able to play all tracks together.

Call Recorder, which I use with Skype, does this. Call Recorder also has applets that will allow you to separate the tracks.

If this recording was done that way, each track may be available; perhaps one without the echo.

Hello Vasja,

I don’t see any setting that distinguishes between mic and line. Try another mic to see if anything changes.

If you feed a mic into a line input the input will be very low.

Maybe the mic isn’t very sensitive to begin with. I don’t know the H4N. Maybe it’s preamps aren’t that good.

If you have a good battery in the mic , you don’t need phantom.

Please check that you have a good battery in the AT mic, or that the Phantom Power is turned on on the Zoom.

Please check that your Zoom input is set to Mic and not Line and that you have no attenuation engaged.

Hello Sophia and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

What you’re hearing is an echo. It sounds like this may have been on a SKYPE call and both parties were not on headsets with mics, so the audio coming out of one computer speaker is picked up by the microphone on the other computer and fed back in.

If it is a SKYPE call done on Call Recorder, you might be able to isolate the tracks using their split track applet and edit as needed to save the audio. If you need both sides of the conversation, you’d have to edit out the echo on track B when the person on track A was talking and vice versa. Not a big job.

As to reverb and echo. Echo is usually defined as sound that has discrete audible repetitions, repetitions, repetitions, repetitions.

Reverb OTOH is usually defined as a smooth ongoing extension of the sound. Like what you might hear in a big church.

You can have both reverb and echo at the same time.

Everything depends on the specs on your computer sound card. Historically, stock computer sound cards aren’t very good.

I’d say get the USB version or get one of these.

It’s apparent I need to know more about the containers!

Thanks very much. I figured there was a system of sorts at play, but it was not as obvious as Mac/Apple GUIs used to be.

Mark, These were individual jpeg files. I wasn’t the one exporting them, so I can’t really answer much more.

I have a 664 with CL6. I use mine prefader. I use the trims to set gross level and isos and the rotary faders for the two mix.
