Contact Countryman directly and ask about getting a “link.” COuntryman makes links for all of their mics. It’s a TAF to xlr/power supply that does just what you want. I have one.

Attach a cardioid wireless lav mic to the podium mic if you expect the speaker(s) stay on mic. Otherwise strap up an omni and ride gain on different speakers.

Find someone with a CEDAR noise reduction system. While not designed to remove echo, it will reduce it to some degree.

If it’s a tv drama/comedy with a set or sets, they have no ceilings (or ceiling bounce), no fourth wall (or fourth wall bounce) and they run multiple booms to isoed tracks. A good mixer usually also does a mix to stereo (or dual mono).

Without the reflections, you can use shotguns.

If you’re working in real interiors, shotguns should be replaced with hypercardioids.

Plant mics help.

I’m with Ron on the music, unless you get them to sign a hastily drafted Transfer Of Rights letter that let’s them know the restrictions of the use and their responsibility to pay for that use. I’d also copy the music company and/or check to see if handling over the music files was allowed by the deal you struck with the music company.

Yes, but why is the engineer changing levels. If it is to make the mix work better than you nee to go with that.

A compressor limiter combo is one answer. Getting a prefader mix from the console will also prevent those changing levels.
