Buzz can be from local sources; light dimmers or other things like ground loops.

Are you hearing the buzz at the Behringer mixer headphone output? If not the problem is after the mixer. Unplug the output from the mixer to the speaker and see if it changes. If you have buzz without the mixer connected to the speaker, the source of the buzz is before the speaker.

Buzz can be from using the unbalanced stereo output from your Mac.
If the problem is there, you can get a small two channel isolation transformer. I use one between my Mac and my rack of gear to stop the buzz.

Can I assume you have a powered speaker? If so, try plugging all power plugs into the same electrical output as the mixer. This will reduce the possibility that a ground loop is the cause of the buzz.

Simple things; Make sure audio lines are not running parallel to power cables.

The Fire One PDF file says you need to install drivers. Check to make sure they will work with your system..

Control panel Installation
A setup program is provided on the CD-ROM. This program will install the FireOne Windows driver onto your computer, as well as a Windows Control Panel applet and plugins for Cakewalk SONAR and Steinberg Cubase and Nuendo. To install the software:
Make sure FireOne is not yet connected to the host computer (the software will instruct you at the appropriate
point to connect it).

If the audio drops out at exactly the same place during playback, it’s probably a tape problem. Or……

That you were able to run tape again and have some audio and then have it do the same thing makes me think it’s a tape transport problem; something in the tensioning arms that is OK until X amount of tape winds up on the takeup reel.

I would have the camera serviced before your next shoot.

See if the “bad tape” plays on any other player.

Are these a new batch of tapes? Maybe something wrong with the batch?

Did you change from one formula tape to another?

This is slightly over my head.

I have been told that audio timecode should be set to what ever the video editor’s session frame rate is, regardless of the shooting frame rate. That’s if the project will end up as video and not film. Then different rules apply. I don’t have any direct experience with trying it though.
