Hello Bill,
It was a list of mics. I don’t think it was in a specific order, but I think the NTG-3 is less prone to RF than the CS-3e. That’s based on anecdotal info. Although I have demoed both, I haven’t done both at the same time. I can say the NTG-3 is slightly wider than the 416 and is lighter on the bottom.

I’m thinking you have two speakers and each of the two outputs (not inputs) I mentioned in my previous post would require a 1/8″ TRS to two male or female RCAs, depending on how far you have to go. Most RCA cables are male-to-male, so you’d need the splitter jacks to be female.

I think the Big Knob has some of those routing capabilities, but I haven’t used them yet. Actually my favorite feature is the MONO button to check phase and polarity.

The MacPro (mine anyway) seems to have two different 1/8″ TRS unbalanced audio output jack, one on the front, one on the back.
Either one will do, but you have to assign it within FCP and the Mac audio system panel. It took me a bit of trial and effort to figure that out, but it works.
I use a Mackie Big Knob in between my MacPro and power amp. It lets me run my CD player turntable and other sources including my Mac through the monitor system. Not necessarily some you have to do, but perhaps something that might come in handy.

Thanks for the nice thoughts and…the rest of the story. Your syntax and use of adjectives caught my ear in a weird way and some flags came up.
I like being pretty careful about making sure this board doesn’t become the repository for hyperbolic posts made for a product by folks who work in some way for the company. Likewise, when someone dumps on something, I want to make sure they aren’t from the competition
I fight the issue with the reviews I write. Mfgrs would like me to be more effusive (if it’s about THEIR gear), but somehow 🙂 seem to have a problem with glowing reviews of other mfgrs. As might be expected, they also don’t care for much criticism of their ow.

Pro Tools LE has NR as an option. It’s pretty good. I use Izotope RX as a PTLE plugin and like it as well, maybe better.
No way to say how you stack up against the other guy.

Hello Greg,
The Sound Devices 442 mixer outputs can be adjusted to 0 VU, -10 or mic level.
I wasn’t sure why I’d need -10 several years ago when I bought the 442, but I has served me VERY well on half a dozen occasions. This is one of MANY features the 442 has. Too many to mention here.
