I have CS6 (audition) running on one of my Macs. I seem to recall it has video playback. Does the computer have to be in the booth? I was narrating in a whisper booth yesterday that had a window. The monitor/computer could have been there as well.

What video program are you using? Can it run on the lap top?

Do you expect to record the new voice track to the lap top? If not, then where?

When the camera company site doesn’t even mention the audio or audio input specs for the camera, it’s not a good sign.

You could be using the best mic out there and get total c**p!

The Rode lav has a number of possible connectors. You can get the mic and continue to use it by buying the connectors you need to get into the particular device.

Contact Rode to see if the Rode Lav will work plugged into your camera.

Your problem here is that you’re hardwired to the camera. You can only be as far away as the cable. Wireless? Yes, but there goes your budget. Now you know why the popcorn costs so much at the movies. Movie production companies need that money to buy audio gear.

You have jumped into a deep money pit that will only break your heart and make you bitter. Please consider turning around and going back NOW. 🙂

Well then. Avoid anyone who wants to own your music outright and not license its use from you unless that particular music, in your/his opinion is relatively disposable or unless you get a big enough pay out for its use in perpetuity.

Think of music as an intellectual property. You get paid for its creation and also for the degree of exposure. A ditty for an industrial video should be less expensive than the underscoring for MicroSoft’s next TV campaign. I don’t remember what Bill Gates paid for the Rolling Stones’ “Start Me Up” for the Windows 95 campaign, but the $3 mil, $8 mil and $14 mil you read about are a benchmark that you can only hope for.

Still need two mics. Or a kit with a boom, mic and mixer.

Sennheiser G3 wireless mic systems cost about $630 each. I wouldn’t go less quality than that.

The fact that you’re getting interference on your wireless is an indication that there is traffic on “your” frequency. If that’s the public safety band, you are interfering with federally licensed communications and you are breaking the law. You are on their frequency.

Although moving the receiver closer to the transmitter may help, my advice to you would be to stop using these radios at once.
