You need to find the bin in the project and copy that across to the drive too (the MediaFiles folder is where the media is, although it’s been a while since I’ve seen an OMFI version)

I’ve done it using macros before. Ahk on windows and butler (or karibiner has been recommended) on osx

On 10.1.4 – the (avid mxf op-atom) clips come in separately for video and audio, as they are in the folder, rather than as a video clip with 8 tracks of audio.
Passing the Avid AAF through Resolve to get a FCPX XML results in video only for the most part – or audio that is not linked.
I guess I’ll stay with Avid… although I was looking forward to trying FCPx out on this project, but I’m pretty sure it’s going to be more trouble than it is worth.

Put seq in bin with one dummy clip (eg title) and export bin as aaf. Won’t embed media though

If you do backdoor the bins you may be in for a world of hurt (access violations being the first indication).
Interplay <-> MC is not very good IMO

It would look like a ‘custom’ folder in the effect presets. Or a dropdown list similar to the colour correction presets.
I’ve tried keeping a repo that I want to reuse in compound clips for copy / paste attributes – but the compound clip has to be pasted to the timeline / stepped in / copied / stepped out / deleted before I can then paste attributes – so that’s not a very neat workaround.
I find it very hard to believe that there is no easy option for this other than paste attributes now this software has been around for 3.5 years.
I assume that with Motion 5 (I’m on the trial) I could do a repo and save as an effect preset.
‘Make favorite motion’ I use a lot in FCP7 – rename the resulting preset and reuse. So much goodness in that software that seems to be lost forever…

But, if migrating from FCP7, FCPx is so different with no guarantee that Apple won’t pull the plug again, that you would be short sighted not to look at some of the alternatives:
Avid (long in tooth, poor effects but should be around for a long time as it is their core product)
PPro (hold back from latest version though as lots of issues reported)are the top two in order of popularity. followed by..
FCPx (tied to osx and limited development – but cheap!)
Then, also worth a look:
Vegas (tied to windows, also very different from FCP7 but has its fans)
Edius
Lightworks (editing only)
Resolve (early days) -

As I thought. These are many and varied so no easy en masse possibilities. Maybe I’ll figure out an Automator or Butler shortcut…
Maybe it’ll make it into v7.1 🙂

Sorry, perhaps I wasn’t clear, source clip is actually 8 stereo pairs of audio. However metadata in QT identifies as 16 x mono.
In avid I modify clip within app to be 8 x stereos. I can’t remember if FCP7 had this as an option – maybe I have to do it within QT7?
Obvs cutting into timeline before linking as stereo is extra step.
