    What’s weird is this:

I exported one of the 10-bit clips to DVCPRO DV, re-imported it, and it worked fine in any sequence.

When I Media Managed all of the footage, re-compressing it to DVCPRO DV, all the Master clips in the resulting new Project File were green to start with.

    I’ll try trashing Constant Frames.

Isn’t that what FCP Rescue does? I haven’t manually trashed prefs in a long time — ever since I started using FCP Rescue. I save the prefs with it, trash them with it, re-open FCP and check the problem. Then if the problem persists, I restore the prefs with it.

Sorry, I should have noted that I’ve used FCP Rescue and trashed, tested, restored, tested, etc.

Sorry if this is a little bit off-topic, but does anyone know if it’s possible to jerry rig the Intuos drivers for the Bamboo Fun? Wacom crippled the application-specific features on the Bamboo…

    Thanks!

I’d also love to hear how the Bamboo fares on FCP. My wrist is really feeling the strain of some long edit days, and I’m curious as to how the Bamboo does compared to the Intuos. Obviously the Intuos is much better in Photoshop/Illustrator, but as a mouse in FCP is it really necessary over the Bamboo?

    Thanks!

Okay, I’m about to give up and archive install. I was hoping I could get away without that kind of headache, but it doesn’t seem to be possible.

Any last ideas about how I might incorporate the correct installation from the new user account into my normal account?

    Thanks!

Tom, after re-installing FCP 5.1, updating to the current version, and switching over to a new user, it worked!

Now my question is, how do I get the Boris folder in the generator’s tab — which now works great in my temp user account — to show up in my usual user account? Do I have to copy over all my user prefs and data to the new account?

    Thanks for your help!

Here’s a screen grab of my generators pulldown:

    Thanks for the quick reply!

I’m not sure exactly when it happened, but my Title 3D tool completely disappeared from my generators pulldown/effects folder. I know some people were confused because it was moved into a folder named Boris in their generators tab, but I have nothing at all.

I also did a search in my effects tab with the same result.

I also reinstalled Final Cut 5.1 a month ago or so, but the Title 3D tool was still missing. Unfortunately I can’t reinstall at the moment because I’m in the middle of a project and don’t want to mess with anything drastically. Is there a way to install JUST the borisfx content from the Final Cut DVD? My Crossgrade disks don’t have the option that I can find.

I just presumed that there had been no update to the problem mentioned in the LAFCPUG article, but maybe I’m missing something.

    Thanks for the help!

A month later and as far as I can tell there is no movement on this…

In fact, the BorisFX site is down at the moment, so I literally can’t even check if they have an update available.

If anyone manages to figure out a solution or knows of an update, please do tell.

    Thanks!
