I have 3 of these cameras and love them. For the price and the features they have they are the best for the buck if you are a Sony person. I get what Michael is saying and I hope the format stays around for years. I need to buy 2 more SDI out type camera and will either do 2 more of these or 1 more and something like the 300 with an interchangeable lens. These formats are changing way to fast to build up set ups then have them change on you so I hope the workflow last for years. Michael, can I mix the 2 formats in post like the nx5 and the 160 if both shot at 1080 60i? This is the only thing I worry about buying different now. I came from Sony DSR 250’s and loved them.

John, thanks again for the heads up on the Sony CMU software. I installed it and it works great, and it’s a lot quicker then just importing the files. Some files that took 2.5 hrs. took 30 mintues in this software.

Anyone else can find it here:

Thanks, I’ll look into the Sony camera software, didn’t see an article on it here but that seems to be the easiest way to go.

Thanks John. I’ve had one big project I’ve done since having these cameras and I just place the files in order in the timeline (PC, Adobe)but is that software inside the camera when I export out to keep it all one? I don’t mind when I do commercial shoots but the long events I’d rather keep as one long fie.

So an SXS card would be able to record one long file or is it the same?

    Thanks again!

I’m going to use the gravel in the yard, get real sand and put inside freezer gallon size zip loc bags then inside the sand bags.

True about the water jugs though.

Wow, they made them just like the JVC models, very nice. Yes, I would like to hand a DVD copy to the talent right there and have a backup on HDD to make copies from, unless I have 2 decks for both, hummm? They haven’t been pumping anything up for the unveil’s this year not even camera’s so I’ll wait till the show starts to see.

Thanks guys, out of this chain I heard about Allstate and The Hartford. Are there any other suggestions? I want to do the same as Mick with liability for sure then I was going to see about rental and E&O which I agree with another on here that, that can be avoided with a contract so maybe equipment? Also, I thought 2 million was the norm on liability?

I use a Pinnacle Studio Movie Box. The Ki-Pro is nice but way out of my budget. This way I record to an external drive and can work right off it if needed.
