Please don’t tell me your producer did not hire an experienced DIT or video engineer for the shoot. They are now seeing the results of not hiring talent and instead relying on a cookie cutter camera template setup.
Such a shame but then again you get what you don’t pay for and then some.

Dark compression if activated would have aided the problems you are seeing.

Taylor the RCP is similar in operation and price to the Sony RMB-750 which makes the unit some much more powerful and responsive for engineering access as well as creativity compared to the lame duck EC-3.
One of my major disappointments has been with the lack of higher end RCP’s from Panasonic for their camcorders. They finally caught up to the other “big boys”. I regret the unit will not work with the SDX or Varicam as I was told this at NAB 2006.
Ironically Sony’s RMB-750 RCP will work with the new F900R camera which has new processing as well as the prior generation F900/3.
Why Panasonic could not do the same with the HDX-900 and SDX/Varicam remains to be answered.

Most of those buy it quick insurance policy will not cover professional gear.
Even some equipment floater policies have restrictions on the total coverage while the gear is in “transit”. You need to read the fine print to understand why exactly you are purchasing and if you are covered for your specific needs.

but it will end up becoming a drive issue if the user is trying to playback from a single internal drive when he requires much faster drives to keep up with the additional load associated with 10 bit.

Betacam SP is not 10 bit so why even do this?
Were you referring to digi betacam instead?
