Thanks Rafael, for your comments! Actually, my first choice *was* a Dell, the Ultrasharp 2408 WFP. However, a site that usually gives very good reviews, said about it:

“For office use, meanwhile, Dell’s 2408WFP is largely ideal. There is only one minor caveat, which is that smaller text is less legible than on most 24in models, and we noted red aberrations showing up in white text against a black background at anything below 10 pixels. (…)
    Verdict
In conclusion, we have a monitor that’s not suitable for graphics professionals, but most other people ought to be well pleased.”

Since working in FCP itself means reading a LOT of small text, I thought this one would be less suitable. Maybe the Dell E248WFP (wide gamut) or Dell S2409W (16:9) could be a good choice. They do however have TN panels, so less broad viewing angle and have no analog video inputs.

The Samsung 245T that is mentioned in the posts you referred to is PVA, and wide gamut and has the video inputs. It is the most expensive one from all the candidates, though.

    Thanks again!
    Best,

Thanks for responding. I’m not gonna say I had read them all, but after reading a lot of these I still did not find an answer. The thing is that – as far as I could see – all the posts are about an EXTERNAL monitor, whereas I am looking for a one screen solution (as long as finances force me to do so).

    Hi Michael,
Good to hear you’re glad with your mixer. I can’t give you advice on poles or shock mounts. I have used several, but just what the company for which I worked had. Location Sound seems to be great in advice though (I mean: several people have mentioned them in the past) so I would ask there for advice. It also depends on what you sort of production you’re gonna do. Shock mounts partly dependent on what mikes you’re going to use.
    FWIW,

Just came in this forum and saw this question… Well, in your case I would go for the Sound Devices Mix Pre, a very good two channel mixer. A bit above your price tag (about $650) but worth every penny – and considering the mike and camera you are using, a good choice!
