I meant it in a funny way. As in, if Herb is being called a super pro, how do I get this seemingly ridiculous insult.
No, I wouldn’t trust someone who had no experience with an arri and a £.5m broadcast advert. I probably wouldn’t trust myself with that yet.

How do you qualify as a super pro? Is it by preferring footage from an arri to an iPad? Or do you have to pay membership?

I’ve seen these before. They are like passport photo booths but they record video messages of up to 5 minutes in length. They have a touchscreen interface and a computer controlled camera with a locked off shot. You can probably purchase one directly from a uk supplier, but if you have to build your own and program it, it won’t be cheap.
Without actually building the booth, you need a fast PC, a camera, a touchscreen monitor and an external monitor for other guests to look at. You then need a good director/flash programmer who can control outbound and inbound USB or rs232 ports inside a nice looking UI. This will start and stop the camera at the users command and save to a specified directory for you.
Doing this in the UK and starting from fresh I would budget £4.9k for hardware, £1.5k for the booth and £3-4k for programming. They do receive around £800 for each hire so recouping costs from one wedding season would be possible, especially if you are billing more for editing the clips and delivering on DVD.

If you really can’t change the GPU, and are limited to 64GB of RAM then although the new Mac Pro looks revolutionary and is undoubtedly a fast machine, a top spec HP or ProMax system will provide benchmarks that are far beyond what is capable.
I’m not saying the new Mac Pro isn’t a great product – we will have some of them, but the thought that I can never upgrade….

Yes! It’s what makes rally drivers so talented in comparison with F1 drivers. Manual cars, clutch, very high speeds, tree and spectator lined tracks and surfaces that change from tarmac, gravel, grass, mud, snow and ice!

Not to add to the analogy, but a racing driver will drive a manual car faster than an automatic, even if it has a double clutch and millisecond up and down shifts…
Loving learning FCPX at the moment, but each time a new job comes in I automatically click on the Pr app. In time that might well change though.

I bet over the years all great auteurs have got this angry about what fcpx and adobe premiere can and can’t do.
I’m off to edit 48 streams of 8k video on my acer laptop and Sony Vegas. At once, with colour correction and noise reduction. Don’t believe me? F**k you.

Compared with the old Mac Pro I’m going for a shade over $12k for equivalent top spec.
I reckon the base spec CPU and SSD with 32GB ram and upgraded GPU will be around $6500.
