Nope. It’s doing things for us at the moment that none of the other NLE can do, at a very small price, that works on multiple machines from one license and at a speed that is hugely impressive. After we ironed out a minor glitch with the Red workflow plugin it’s now a very powerful tool.

However, keyframing sucks!

We find this also. Editing projects with up to 50+ hours of r3d/4k ProRes/1080p ProRes from external TB RAIDs. Each project is up to 7Tb in size. FCPX takes a long time with occasional crashes and spinning beachballs. In comparison, Premiere CC does it with one click as it searches and learns. Hopefully an update might bring this function.

The only difference is that last week I had an Ultrastudio 4K running from one of the thunderbolt ports (different bus to the RAID 1 and 2). As I have completed editing and just need to export 30-40 1 minute clips I’ve removed it to save bandwidth (and the constant fan humming).

Apple have advised me to take the Mac Pro to my nearest shop and book with a genius to see if a GPU or RAM stick has gone faulty.

Same things happening in activity monitor in FCPX and in AME. Both drives have high read/write speeds. The drive where footage is located is spinning at 500MB/s ish and the target drive is spinning at 800MB/s +

Really odd. Its the export from FCPX from red raw files that has dropped off a cliff, no other program is suffering.

It’s really odd. The performance in FCPX seems to have nosedived on this machine in the last 48hrs. I’ve had Mac support try a few things but I can’t tell what the issue might be. Unless some RAM has gone faulty or one of the D700s has given up….
