If your looking for just a dual disk enclosure, I’ve had very good luck with Firmtek’s products. I’ve been running a pair of dual enclosures for almost two years with no heating problems at all. The newer box also has a multi-speed fan in it. FWIW

I like progress as much as the next guy, but I sure would like to own a piece of Apple equipment for more than 6 months before it’s already obsolete. Sigh…

Another way that I get around this at times is to Export the Timeline as an Avid codec file. The Avid codecs are available for both Mac and Windows machines. I did work with a graphics guy a few months ago and I was using DVCPro HD as the editing codec. He was running After Effects on a Windows machine. When I needed to export clips for graphics work (usually roto or “wire removal” kinds of things) I would use Avid’s DV100 codec. It works surprising well and it can be read on either machine. You can Google the Avid codecs for both platforms. It works.

The Panasonic (DVC50, DVCPro HD, Etc.)codecs are licensed to Apple for use in FCP and usually not available on a Windows machine without purchasing the Codecs separately (fairly expensive). If it’s just for approval, export a DV25 (or, oddly enough, a DVCPro25) file and they should be able to play it on their machine. It will export pretty quickly as well.Otherwise, use a different Quicktime file format. Sorenson 3 is fairly quick and can be played on a Windows machine with Quicktime installed.

By simply finding the Match cut, you won’t change anything in your timeline. You will simply pull up the original shot in your Viewer and the effected shot will be in the Canvas window right next to it, assuming that you are running your windows side by side. Then if you just click on the two windows, the original or the effected video will go to your external monitor for review.

You also don’t mention which codec you used for editing. Make sure that the people that are getting the file have the same codecs available for playback. Many codecs are included with FCP but aren’t normally available on machines without FCP. Just a thought…

Hi Greg.
That last one was the ticket. After a restart, my Meridien files are playing back fine. I had actually installed the codecs you had referred earlier to without any luck. These work for Meridien files. I will try them with DV100 and Dnx files tomorrow.
