Avid codecs for Intel Mac?
Posted by Tom Matthies on February 23, 2009 at 3:50 pmI haven’t been able to find a definitive answer to this. I’m looking to use Avid codecs for importing and exporting from a Mac Pro. We still use legacy Avids and sometimes to convert FCP Quicktime files from/to our Avids.
Thanks,

You should be able to download the Avid Codec Pack here:

I’ve already tried this package. Although it works on an IBM based Mac, it doesn’t seem to work on an Intel platform. I’ve dropped the codecs into the usual Quicktime folder in the Library folder and also in the Quicktime folder in the System>Quicktime folder. Is this build of the Codecs (LE 1.2) supposed to work on an Intel Mac for sure?

ok – I think the LE version 1.10 are the correct one’s – I use Avid codecs on my Intel MacPro and I believe this is the pack I installed:

That last one was the ticket. After a restart, my Meridien files are playing back fine. I had actually installed the codecs you had referred earlier to without any luck. These work for Meridien files. I will try them with DV100 and Dnx files tomorrow.
Thanks again.
