Hi Jim , just my ideas , I never mount a mic on a camera , think about it. You want the mic close to talent not a camera making noise.
Also with a shotgun, the 416 is an excellent mic but for indoors I use a Schoeps CMC6 w / Mk41. Costs a bit but the DPs I have worked with love the final result. Just my opinion, but whatever mic you use get it near the talent not the camera.

    good Luck

Just to add to everyone’s post, All good and correct info. I moved to audio from camera about 15 years ago and learned the hard way you get what you pay for. Steping up to the Lectros made a huge difference in my work. also I think an assortment of lavs is good to have. Having a side addressed or end addressed does make a difference. Also you might consider hiring an audio person for your shoots, you can see and hear the difference in gear before investing. I know $500 to $600 seems like a big investment but it really in not. Think what you paid for your camera. Purchasing good audio equiptment will also last a long time , the gear does not really change as fast as cameras.

    Best regards,

I dont know if you can get the Sanken mic wired for your Sennheisser.
I use these mics with my Lectros and I have to say the vampire clip is great, it hides well, blocks wind and clothing noise better than anything else I have tried. It such a great idea yet so simple.

Hi, you might want to look at these

    https://www.lightbreak.com/

I use them pinned to a frame in front of a 650 frensel
Does a decent job , puts a nice backgound to a plain wall
Thing i like is they travel well, roll them up right in the jelly roll

March 15, 2009 at 11:51 am in reply to: Wireless from a mixer to the camera

Hi, I have used a lectro system to get from my SD 302 to camera. Trew audio carrys the correct cables for getting XLR from the output of the mixer into the lectro transmitter. With my setup I can either send mic or line. Really have to put the entire weight of monitoring levels to the cam op. Hope this helps

Hi Douglas, I would like to give you my honest opinion here, just my opinion, no offense intended. In looking at your demo, is this what you are showing people ? It seems to me a trailer for a music video of some sort. The footage looks good but no story, your say you do interviews ,commercials? maybe people would like to see something like that. I think you may need to make your demo in tune to what type of service you are trying to sell to clients. Your demo looks like After Effects just added to clips. This would be a good demo if you are trying to market yourselves as an AE artist. As the previous poster said, you have to learn sales also, if your are a good salesman you can sell a car , a suit or a video.

    Best wishes
