This also might relate to my other work hard drives – for example – when I want to edit a wedding video and at the end of the day or the project, I want to ‘update’ the other two HDDs with what I have done, wouldn’t this be easier than copying one by one?

Thanks for the tip Michael,

I have just recently downloaded Resolve Lite so I am still learning all the tips and trades of such a great program.

But when I was just goofing around and did tests with just three shots, exporting an XML from final cut and such, the result video from Resolve was always in inferior quality than what I exported from FCP7.

Would you mind giving me a step by step guide on how to navigate this process?

Hey Nick,

no I am not working with any post production house, it’s just me.

The original files are .mov
4096 x 2160
H.264, Linear PCM, Timecode
HD (1-1-1)

It’s from a Lumix GH4.

In the original card structure, there is nothing more than the footage/to import or Log in FCP7, just like I did with a 5D in the past, so that’s why I am going about it this way..So i only have the original H264 footage as well as my converted one.

but that would mean that I would have a pro-res Master footage + additional conversion to 720 pro res (just for editing) THUS much more space to chew on a HDD?

I have heard that before too, so how is it that when I import a 4K ProRes 422 file and I drop it to a new sequence and click Yes to match the sequence settings, the sequence is in 4K and when I export the video the video is also in 4K?
