yes you can. Simply said, at the top of the bar, markers controls colors params – opacity and location. Select it, and then opacity option will reveal at the bottom as in the image below.

For such A>B>C program use cases – you should definitely go lossless (either single file or image sequences). If space is an issue, try to compare few lossless format outputs and see which generates smallest files.

Francis – framesToTime() is there to have a greater control over the delay. Personally, I tend to keep delay between elements small, and without a need to pay close attention to the slider value.

You could remove this translation and see how it works. Also, this one is important for TimeRemapping. Without translation it does not work as expected 🙂

Hey Dustin, explore how sourceRectAtTime() expression works and it will answer all the questions. You need to set anchor point of text layer to match your source appearance direction, and link mattes layer to texts source.

Davide, sure no problems.

Basically, whole calculation is made in the last line. Between square brackets, there are two values, which sets anchorpoint: [X,Y]

X – its horizontal placement, where L stands for left point of layer’s source, while W – width of the layer.
Y – is a vertical placement, where T stands for top point of layer’s source, while H – the height of the layer.

With that said, first array item for X (L+ W) is value calculated from left part of the source, added with full width (W). Meaning, it will set anchor point to right, horizontally.

Now if you want it to stay on the left, just keep L alone in the last line of expression ([L ,T+H/2])

T + H/2 in this case stands for middle of the layer (meaning, we take TOP + half of the layer height)

sorry, I am a bit confused. You mentioned that potentially – it was caused by a text layer. But if it was a text layer directly inside in AE (not from .ai file), when its questionable whether it has something to do with Illustrator file.

Maybe the font you are using is somewhat 3rd party or not full unicode? Thats just plain guesses though, which in fact even does not make much sense..

If you have a chance to share the assets – it could help to inspect.

any chance there are some appearances applied in the .ai file or maybe gradient fills? This can cause issues. Did you converted text layer to outlines inside AI?

Maybe by linking the Trim Path to linear interpolation, which is controlled by x position, while moving left or right?

Something like this to Trim Path value.
linear(yourLayer.transform.position[0], 0, thisComp.width, 0, 100)
