Hi Andy,
This is the thread that I needed!!
I see in your attached screen shot that the ROLES AS drop down is on 4 CHANNEL MONO. This is exactly what I need. I am delivering to a TV network and am having a challenging time trying to configure the audio to the network’s specs. I had delivered a file with the audio in standard stereo and they replied saying, audio must be 4 channels, and told me to split the stereo audio into 2 separate mono channels and pan them L&R on channels 1&2. That was easy. But they also told me to then duplicate those and add to channels 3&4. THAT IS THE PART THAT IS CHALLENGING ME. I even tried SURROUND but that created more issues. 4 Channel Mono is just the ticket.
Please advise!!
Thank you Andy! -

Thanks Bret. I have no choice in the matter. Here are the specs from the TV station:
Technical Standards
Program must be in one of the following formats:
4×3 Anamorphic 720×486
NTSC Standard Definition
ï‚· Beta SP
ï‚· Digital Beta
All 16×9 programs that are supplied to us in 4×3 anamorphic formats will be broadcast
faithfully.
They will not be center-cut or letter-boxed. The 4×3 anamorphic PAL programming will be
converted as supplied, and will appear as 16×9 full screen as the producer intended when
viewed on a television that is set to wide screen mode.
-END-What option do I have?

Great stuff Bret. So what action then do I need to take? Do I need to change a setting in their Compressor Preset? If so, what?
Thanks -
Yes you are correct Bret. My bad, bad info on 16×9 squished with bars. The frame is not 16×9 with bars. It is 4×3 squished, no bars. So something is off in the preset’s settings. Do you see what it is? I have entered 720×486 (16×9), but it renders out 640×486 (4×3). Check the two screen shots.
Thanks -
Still need it to render at 720×486.
Help 🙂 -
Sorry I misinformed with the 16×9 bars on the side. That is not the case. The frame is 4×3 squeezed (intentionally)
-
I don’t yet understand all the anamorphic stuff, but the Compressor preset came from the client and it does not do what they are asking it to do. The final render is 16×9 but has the bars on the sides and has squeezed the hd original to 4×3 with the bars. That was intentional. but the cannot accept it because of the aspect ratio is not 720×486.
Any other thoughts?
Thanks -
Hi Bret,
Not sure. Notice the FRAME RATE says what it should say (720×486, ENCODED), but the DISPLAY says 640×486. Unchecking ADD CLEAN APERTURE caused no change. -
Ok I tried it with unchecking the box and still got the same result. So I’m still looking for the solution.
Thanks!
