November 20, 2013 at 12:43 am in reply to: Problem importing radial gradient to AE from IllustratorIt’s an Illustrator bug. Illustrator is saving the wrong information in the file. To see this, open the same .ai file in Acrobat. After Effects and Acrobat (and other applications) are reading the same data.
I was able to force Illustrator to save out the correct colors by saving your .ai file as a .eps file from Illustrator.

> The caching frames process in my project takes a very long time. (about 5 sec/frame) I need to restrict it to a few frames. I set the work area to where I need to do some works but the green bar still goes ahead.
This is not a question about caching. It took me several times reading this thread to realize what you are actually asking about.
It seems that you have the From Current Time option checked in the Preview panel, which will ignore the work area for the purpose of rendering RAM previews.

> While CUDA is supported on GT 650M in the Macbook Pro Retina, it just meets the minimum requirements for the Ray-traced 3D Renderer.
After Effects sometimes complains that it cannot use the GPU for Ray-tracing. This appears to occur when other applications have used some of the GPU’s memory – quitting those apps (even a browser) and relaunching After Effects solves the problem for me.
I’ve read that since the last update in AE CC that this still an issue.
We’ve got a new version of the OptiX library from Nvidia and some other changes on our end that will make this a lot better. We’re hoping to have a new After Effects CC (12.2) update out next month with these improvements, as well as a new After Effects CS6 (11.0.4) update with the same improvements.

I’d think that 16GB would be plenty of RAM for a mobile computer that you’re not using for heavy final renders, etc.

Is the scene rendering any more slowly in After Effects with the Cineware effect than in Cinema 4D?
There are some tips here for improving performance:

You can use the Advance Lightning effect to create a forking crack like that.
You can also just use a photograph of an actual crack to create an element that you can wipe on with an animated mask.
