    Thanks Walter!

    I’ll see if it helps.

I think that’s basically were the support is going… I’m sticking with the firewire storage for this upcoming job and let the techie pull his hair out! 🙂

Do you mean get extra ram, Russ? I hoping to get more in the next couple of weeks but I hoped 4gb would get me by….

    Thanks all!

I’ve managed to get a support tech-type to take my computer away and leave a loan device with firewire storage. He thinks it might be the Aja and Kona conflicting so he’s going to try different drivers…

The Atto R380 was in the top one – 4. The Aja I tried in both 3 and 2 (Aja website says it’ll work in both). When it was in 2 I had more luck with the fcp getting to the outpoint before the veil of doom (which I’d never seen before and actually hoped, at one point, was a new feature on fcp! 🙂 ) of the kernal panic.

The only other card is the ATI bog-standard gpu in the bottom slot….

    I love Mac’s…..

    Cheers Simon,

Yep, I’m running ndd drivers on the Kona. But good thinking on the forum bit…. I should spread the load! 🙂

    I think I see where you’re going….

It’s yuv from tape originally (HDV typically). I’m guessing you’re thinking about visual differences in the colour spaces…. No? Which would be an issue with really grade-sensitive material, but if all that’s required is a stylised look, then maybe this setting would suffice…..?? Could an operator switch between settings during the finishing? So just the fx that need it can be rendered in RGB but render as much as possible in YUV?

As I say: it’s definitely a workaround. You don’t get something for nothing – I should have bought a more expensive card! 🙂

Thanks Jeremy, the job went away in the end so I’ll never know! 🙂 For now anyway…..!

    Thanks!

It still didn’t work, but I think I’ve found out why it wasn’t playing nicely: the original sequence was corrupted! I dropped the entire feature into a new dv-pal sequence and it’s currently playing out 🙂 Loverly!!

I should’ve tried it last night, but I had a bit of tunnel vision and was determined to find the right setting…. Which it turns out I had – just the wrong sequence!

    Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for your quick response! I think what’s happened is that I’ve been so used to looking through the easy setups for PAL SD ones that I’d gone ‘blind’ to the ‘DV’ easy setups… I’m not in front of the machine now, but I’ll look through them again tomorrow.

And then maybe I will see the wood in the trees 🙂

    Cheers!

    Todd.
