  • Hi Sam,

thank you for your reply! Looking into long term archiving is another task I want to tackle in the near future.

Thanks for pointing towards Shotsum, but I assume what TeraCopy is doing for me is similar. My problem is that the files actually ARE different from each other but both versions seem to work in the editing suite.

So what I am really looking for is a tool to check the integrity of video files specifically. Otherwise I will just need to hire someone to sit through the 30+ hours of footage with the coffee machine right next to it…

    All the best,

    Tobias

Thank you for the quick answer.

I am shooting with only one camera.
Keep in mind I am aiming at cinematic release too. So I assume resolution IS indeed important. On the other hand, if the upconvert to 1080 decreases image purity, it is indeed worth thinking about sticking 720PN. Though I do not quite understand the argument for 720P EXCEPT recording time.

I still don’t neccessarily get the format differences… But more importantly, how does the choice of 720 or 1080 affect image quality?

Would it be practical to mix 720P/25PN and 1080P/50i? I believe the problem is the 1080 is actually recording 50i while the 720 is recording 25p? And from a standpoint of looks? What would you think?

    Cheers,

    Tobias
