Vegas has worked well but did not enjoy JVC HDV format. That is no longer an issue as i have just gone back to Sony EX1R. Major reason for changing is that FCP and Avid are industry standard in SA and you find that you are continually asked for edit on either of the two so that your material can be broadcast tweaked by the commissioning house. Also in SA, no support for Vegas which is sad as i have been using it for 15 years

many thanks for the speedy reply. will look at both options as so far believe that the change is not going to be easy and in fact questioning the wisdom of the move

Interesting as after some weeks of frustration with the support etc from the principle i have also gone back to V8b as *c simply failes to produce on JVC 720p

    Hi There

Out of interest and desperation and spending hours on the phone between the USA and South Africa i decided to scrub the machine and re-install and not use the latest Vegas 8 Upgrade………… with the exception of the staccato capturing all other problems such as green files, unequal timeline clips, inability to build media bins has for the moment discapeared…………it does appear that their is a conflict in 8c

    Hi Steven

Interestingly the Vegas 7 captures and views the material perfectly as per the external viewing monitor, however V7 appears to have other issues when building the video.

V8 is also a nightmare when trying to build mulitple media bins and tends to crash and shutdown. Due to the nature of the work i prefer to digitise the whole tape and work from there. This appeared to be possible on Vegas 5 and DVcam…….. I also find that you cannot batch capture HDV………..

    Cheers

    Tim
