What are the names cut off by? The edge of the television? Does there look like there is space and something invisible is cutting the edge where you can see it?
On centering…when you right-click the text, there will be a drop-down menu that will open from that spot, go down to “position”…then pick the one you want-“horizontal” or “vertical”…I’d assume with a ROLL (a scroll moves horizontally and from what you are saying, it seems you must be doing a roll), you’d want “horizontal.”

More detail please…are you using the titler?
Centering can be achieved by right-clicking the text object and selecting (I think it’s “position”>) “horizontal center” or “vertical center”
When you say it’s being cut off…what exactly do you mean? Cropped?
Is the crop visible, or is the text outside of the viewable area of a monitor?

I’d second that. I have two of them. No drivers, no setup…the computer thinks it’s a FW video device. AND it’s portable because it’s external.
The signal is surprisingly clean for an inexpensive device.

Yeah, I’ve been hanging around for a while…
I just Googled “Premiere Elements Tutorials” and it looks like there are a variety of ways to go…I usually try the no-cost websites first, then spend more money if I have to… 🙂
I don’t have any personal experience with any tutorials to make a suggestion…once you get the software and get on the Adobe forums (or the Premiere Elements forum here at the Cow), I bet a few users will have some thoughts to share…

Just to put things in context…we’re a very short time away from being 4 or 5 versions beyond Premiere v6…there was Premiere v6.5, Premiere Pro v1, v1.5, v1.5.1 and now the next release should make its appearance very soon.
…so many of the functional issues with Premiere 6 have been fixed or altered for several versions.
OK, so that said, I have both and I can say that I think Premiere Elements is indeed for you. It uses the same high quality DV codec that PPro does…it’s very quick on a fast machine…it has a nice title tool…AND it does DVDs with menus right out of the timeline.
Is it exactly like Premiere 6?…well not really. Let’s say you might recognize the family lineage, but you’ll still have to spend a little time learning it. It sounds like that might be the case with almost any software you decide on after having been away from it for awhile though, so I’m not sure I’d let that steer me too much.
It’s very stable on all of my systems.
It’s hard to go too far wrong for the price…bundled with Photoshop Elements, it’s a pretty impressive value.

Along with all the input here, I would recognize that you have unfortunately learned one of the most intense truths in business…the way a client is at first is the way they will always be.
If they pay late on the first job…they’re cash-in-advance.
If they can’t make deadlines…the contract doesn’t have an extension…it has an immediate cash settlement for late fees before work continues.
If the payment bounces…they’re credit card or cashier’s check IN ADVANCE clients from here on out…
Will the client stay under such draconian measures?
…you should certainly hope not.

Excess tape slack is an effect…not a cause. There are several armatures that could be candidates for damage or lack of lubrication, reel motors that could be getting tired…or just untimely instructions from malfunctioning controller modules…or perhaps the controller modules are getting bad info from dirty, or malfunctioning sensors.
Bottom line…the deck needs to be serviced by a technician. It’s almost impossible to figure out what you even might need to do for someone who can’t see the deck or what actually happens when the tape threads…

The problem with the Z1 is that it seems to forget you wanted everything in manual and occasionally you’ll adjust something and it’s suddenly back to being “helpful”…it happened to me as well.
Very annoying…I still like the little camera though.

He, he…I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that’s all specialty keyboards are…just a keyboard with colored keys. 🙂
As far as the two examples are concerned…I prefer the larger Shuttle Pro shuttle off-keyboard. I find the shuttle on the keyboard to be a bit small and fiddly to use…
On another note…as all of us start to use multiple applications, I have gotten to the point where the one system I have with a dedicated PPro keyboard is actually counter-productive in anything else…because the letters on the keys share space with 3 other symbols in some cases…just a thought.
(if someone was really on the ball, they’d make membranes you can drop on top of the keys and change if that’s the way you want to go…)

I would imagine some will start to pop up in the next couple of months. Several people including myself can do on-site work customized to circumstances as well…
Most of us will travel…my background tends to be in corporate and broadcast so I’m best suited in those areas. I know Aanarav does training too. (and others I’m sure).
I will probably do some in the Midwest this year and we’re looking at doing a string of them in selected cities…(yet to be selected).
