    Marco,

How can you tell it’s a PVM-20l5/”1″? I have one used monitor in mind but from what I can tell it doesn’t have any destignation other than “PVM-20L5”. It does have a manufacture date of “November 2004″ though. . . .

    John,

I agree with you on the JVC. I have the JVC BM-H1900 – a great 20” SD Monitor. I’ve been very happy with it for years now. Editing BetaSP on FCP with a Decklink SP card and an UVW-1800 deck. . . .

It’s the Panasonic BT-LH2600W 26″ Widescreen HD/SD LCD Video Monitor. Sounds like a good monitor and StuS57’s idea to rent a Sony 20L5 for final color correction is a good one but dropping $4k on a monitor you know you can’t completely trust seems crazy. I’ve also been looking at the JVC DT-V190CGU:

Wow Nick, that’s a great idea. It’s under $2k even. I noticed it sells without any inputs at all though. Here’s a link to the 19″:

I own a JVC SD 20″ and it’s been working like a champ for years now. It’s my main monitor in my edit suite.

    Thanks.

    Yeah Rennie.

Hee’s the link to the cheapest, current, HD Monitor I could find:

I know what you mean about the sizes. My 10″ HD field monitor seems ridiculously tiny compared to my old 4:3 Ikegami 9″.

Thanks for the model number on the olderSony. I’ll see if there are any around.

    Thanks Jerry.

I am edging towards the Panny 26″ despite the complaints by the purists. I do like the “pixel to pixel” function. It’s a good work-around for the lack of 1920×1080 native resolution.

What are the pitfalls of using the Panny 26″ in the real world anyways? Is it an issue of mistaking dark dark grey for true black or the reverse? What other problems are there with using an LCD over a CRT? Are they really that big an issue? I mean, how subtle a “problem” are we talking about? . . . I know it’s all relative but keep it from the perspective of delivering a product to DiscoveryHD.

    Tim
