Looks like you already resolved your issue. Just to elaborate a little further, the Quantum LTO5 was an HP made drive. B = HP, C = IBM with Quantum. Going forward only IBM is making LTO7’s, so the B will be phased out eventually I’m sure.
I also recommend PreRollPost to anyone trying to backup w/ LTFS. LTFS is non-proprietary so you can’t be held hostage by the software down the road.

Just an FYI for the future – Any name brand and most boutique drives are OS neutral and will work on Windows, MAC or Linux.

You’re saying that LTO7 on MAC’s and Linux are all having speed issues, is there a specific version level of MAC OS or Linux that you’re seeing a decrease in speed?
I frequently test IBM, HPE, and MagStor tape drives with PreRollPost, YoYotta, and the basic HPE StoreOpen software, and haven’t seen any issues, nor have I had any customer complaints. All of my customers use the mentioned software with an ATTO H644, H680 or Thunderlink 2068. Is this just an isolated issue with just BRU?

I always recommend PreRollPost for Windows users. I believe XenData has a more expensive windows option, but PreRollPost is more geared towards M&E clients.

Also, since you’re mentioning a low cost raid array. Have you looked at costs on tape libraries and using YoYotta ID Automation for LTFS? Generally when people talk about LTFS they think huge numbers from the big guys like 50k , but you can get YoYotta ID Automation for under $990 and turn a tape library into a NAS. https://magstor.com/collections/software/products/yoyottaid-automation-mac-osx-backup-software-full-library-support

I’m a data backup solutions dealer and scratched my head for a bit on this, because everything I deal with is usually on a larger scale or dealing with LTO or Cloud appliances.
If you’re looking to do a backup to a NAS with 5-6 MAC desktops, then you could probably get away using the cheapo home version of Acronis.

It’s like $100 for a perpetual license or yearly subscriptions for 5 computers.
