Ha! Yeah, true. I can get behind what you’re talking about, but I’ll throw a wrench in and say that I tried this same scaling experiment with a piece of 480×360 archival. I put it in a 1080p sequence and scaled it to 400%, then put it in a UHD sequence and scaled it to 800%. The footage didn’t hold up well, but was nonetheless identical in project and in export even though one was scaled 400% more!

I think this has to do with the relationship between 1080p and UHD being 2x scale and how you view the footage, but it has definitely made me rethink my understanding of resolution and scale.

Have you tried right clicking in the record monitor (the one that displays your timeline) and selecting export from there? Not sure why the menu wouldn’t be working, but give that a shot.

Any reason you don’t want to use a proxy workflow with a UHD project? That way you get peak performance and retain flexibility on mastering. Or are you looking for an online workflow?

    Thanks for the response.

So from my understanding, the best way to do that would be to set the aspect ratio to 16:9 in Frameflex on the AMA 4K footage, then transcode the AMA to 1080? This would make it so I’m not scaling or cropping the source after transcoding, and give me the size that we want? The only thing I’m unsure about then is the reformat tab.

If this is correct I’ll at least give it a shot, if the drone footage ends up looking really bad then we will probably have to go the offline route.
