I have a simple solution to this, at least if you want maximum compatibility with single layer dvd-r. I have done many projects close to this size and I simply have Encore write the project to the hard drive and then use DVDShrink (freeware) or Nero Recode (Included in Nero 7) to shrink it to fit on a 4.7gb DVD. Both work surprisingly well, especially since one is freeware and they were both created by the same developer (or so I have heard).

The only time I ever got that error in v1.0 was when something was weird with the GOP files in the video I was using. Womble (www.womble.com) has two programs that have a GOP fixer feature that fixed my problem. Their MPEG-VCR app is my preferred choice, since in the Tools menu the option ‘MPEG GOP Fixer’ is right there for quick access. Sometimes it can fix the errors without having to save a new file and sometimes it requires you to name a new file for creation. Either way, that was the only way I could avoid that error.
