    James,

It seems you have an older version of our plugins installed. The issue you are seeing is a known issue in that version. To alleviate it, try uninstalling your existing XENA plugins. then download and install the latest version from our website. Post back here to let us know if that fixed your problem.

    Todd,

If you dont have that folder, you are likely using an older version of the XENA software. Download the latest from our website, uninstall what you have and run the new installer.

    Todd,

There is an uncompressed VFW AVI codec included in the Xena installer package. On your Xena system you can find the codec here

    C:\Program Files\AJA\Windows\Codecs\Xena_VFW\

You can copy this folder to any place on your Canopus system. Then right click on the

    Tom,

    1) Uninstall the Xena software, reboot, then reinstall 2.5.1
    2) If the problem doesnt go away, post the file type you’re using, and what colorspace you’re using. Basically let us know all the capture settings you’ve used to capture the files you’re using, including the resolutions and framerates.

    Tom,

Can you specify the version of Xena you are using? This was an issue that was corrected in one of our latest software versions, so if you are not using the latest version, please try it and let us know if that solves your problem

    Peter,

Im quite certain you’ll be pleased with the quality of the downconversion. I would be fairly surprised if you could tell the difference between the downconvert from Xena LH, and the downconvert from a high end deck.

    Peter,

the Xena LH/LHe cards also do down conversion using hardware broadcast quality. This is an unfortunate communication mistake that we’ll be sure to clarify. Thanks for pointing it out.

    Sashid,

The Adobe HDV preset cannot be used to output to the Xena card. However, the problem you are describing is not conistent with the expected behavior of the Xena HDV presets. Do you see the same or similar issue when using the other Xena presets or does it only occur in the HDV presets?

    What camera are you using?

    Stuart,

As long as your SDI stream has active frame flags in it, you will be able to capture Varicam. The capture will contain all the audio with only the active frames.

January 8, 2007 at 9:51 pm in reply to: Using Canopus AVIs?

    Todd,

If the Canopus files can only be read by a system which has the Canopus suite on it, there might not be a better solution. It sounds as if they are encoded with a proprietary codec which must be present for the files to be read. That means you’ll need a Canopus suite to read them as long as you have assets encoded like that.

This is actually one of the great things about the Xena system. The formats that we capture in are not proprietary.

If you have a spot where you can post a file a few frames long, you can email a link to it to xenasupport@aja.com and we’ll try to take a look at it, but I can guarantee a solution better than the one you already have
