Here is a Canon C200 Cinema RAW Light file if anyone wants to try to see what can be done with it. https://tbf.me/a/cPz6X
Canon’s Cinema RAW Development Software is needed to make actual RAW adjustments to the file which is here: https://www.canon-europe.com/support/consumer_products/products/digital_cinema/digital_cinema_camera/eos_c200.aspx?type=download&language=EN&os=all
I also have a Windows 10 computer so I can’t get the Canon software to render out a ProRes version of the adjusted RAW file and I have only been able to get Resolve not Vegas Pro to read the file. It does seem like a MAC computer will be necessary to render a ProRes version. On Windows computer, the Canon RAW Development software can’t render ProRes and the file formats it does render I have not been able to get Vegas Pro 14 to recognize. Canon has an Avid plugin that allows AVID to edit the Canon RAW Lite files. I hope the Vegas development team are looking into getting a Canon RAW Lite plugin from Canon that will work with Vegas Pro.
Resolve can open the Canon Cinema RAW Lite file but it can’t yet make actual RAW adjustments so if your exposure and white balance are perfect then you can edit your RAW file in Resolve or render the file for us Windows user to a DNxHD file that can be edited in Vegas Pro. However, this workflow loses all the advantages of a RAW file and you need the full version of Resolve 14 to render the 4K Canon RAW Lite file to its full 4096×2160 resolution. The free Resolve version only renders to a UHD resolution with black bars.

I am currently using Vegas Pro 14 and am considering getting a Canon C200 cinema camera so I can shoot in Canon RAW Lite and use Canon software to adjust and convert the RAW Lite video files to ProRes files. Can VP 14 and/or VP 15 actually edit ProRes video files? Or can VP 14 or VP 15 edit dpx open exr ? This post by Canon explains the work flow and mentioned all the other editing software except for Vegas Pro. https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/explore/cinema-eos-c200-cameras/workflow

  • Thanks

  • That Channel Blend worked great. I will have to try working with it. Are there any tutorials that go into detail on how to use Channel Blend and other color correcting tools in Vegas Pro that you know of? All I find are very basic tutorials for VP on YouTube. Also, can you provide me with a link to Fred Baumann’s color correcting tools?
    Thanks for all your help.

  • Could you try getting the two images to match in color so that you could cut from one clip to the other? I was able to do that easily in Premiere but had difficulty in VP. It may be I just need to work more with with VP’s color correcting tools to develop a color correction procedure.
Also, do you have a preference regarding ColorFast 2 and MB Looks? The masking in ColorFast 2 looked very useful and easy to use in a New Blue tutorial.

  • Here are two images from video shot with different model Canon DSLRs. These images look a little too red but when I tried to reduce the red parts of the face would pick up a slight greenish tint.

So I will have to start my projects in Vegas Pro 13 to use Pluraleyes to sync the audio files, close Vegas Pro 13 and then open the project in Vegas Pro 14 to finish the edit.

  • Vegas Pro 14 seems to work great. Mercalli can stabilize my Sony a7S II 4k xavc s files where as the Sony stabilize effect crashes trying to stabilize these files. However, I have not been able to get my Pluraleyes to show up in the extensions in Vegas Pro 14. I guess I will have to start my projects in Vegas Pro 13 and then use Pluraleyes 4 to sync my audio files and then open the project in Vegas Pro 14 to continue with editing.

July 20, 2016 at 11:30 pm in reply to: Plugins? 3 Split screen video?

I tried this plugin in Vegas Pro 13. It created the screen for the first track alright. However, when I added another channel to create a screen for the second video track it does not seem to affect the second track of video. The second track remains full screen. Is there something that I am missing?
How have since found that after closing Vegas Pro 13 and restarting the program that I was able to get the plugin to work properly.
