I should clarify, I’m talking about the Lite version. The paid version or with the EasyDCP plugin, then it can do DCI compliant JPEG2000 images. They may have added it to the lite version in an update recently as well.

As far as I know it is still the case. Just because it plays in EasyDCP Player, doesn’t necessarily mean much.

Resolve does not generate DCI compliant JPEG2000 images, which is why you can’t use them in OpenDCP.

I can only speak for OpenDCP. Since they are free, you can try them all and see which one best matches your workflow and preference.

Another complicating issue is that there are different ways to calculate the gamma linearization. Some applications use a simple calculation, while others use a complex calculation. Mixing the two methods can result in black levels being increased or decreased at the low end, mimicking a gamma shift.

The JPEG2000 images from Resolve will not be DCI compliant, so you will need to make sure they are re-encoded during the DCP creation.
You don’t have to crop/scale your images. If you leave it 1920×1080 it will play within the 2k flat settings with 39 pixels of black on each side, which is often unnoticeable. Just an option, doing the crop/scale is fine too.
When you export the video, just export as an image sequence. When you create the DCP, you will tell the software to interpret the sequence as 24fps. This will reduce the overall duration, which you will compensate for by speeding up your audio as you mentioned.

You don’t have to change your image aspect either, you can keep it at 1920×1080 and it will show fine using the flat mode. You’ll end up with 39 pixels of black on both sides which most people wont even notice. Just another option.

Is your source 16-bit or 8-bit? If it’s 8-bit, then leave it at 8-bit. If your material is 2K, it’s most likely going to look better shown at 2K rather than an upscale to 4K. It will also be smaller and faster to render.

You don’t need to convert to 16-bit. OpenDCP will accept 8-bit.
