If you’re not getting a window prompting you to choose how the edit will behave (ignore in, ignore out, fit to fill) then you’ve probably chosen to ignore out by default. The default behaviour setting should be found under the preferences.

Do you have any in and out points marked in the sequence?

As I have said before it depends on the EDL and the program that is importing the EDL. The basic version of Resolve is free. You can easily test this.

If the project is on the way already then you do not want to change any metadata. This is one of those things one would need to figure out in pre-production.

MXF OP1a has a bunch of different codecs and you should know what you choose for export because they have different specifications for audio tracks. That said you can’t export only 14 tracks out of CS6. You’ll need CC.

Depending on the format that audio track selection could be a specced restriction. Can you leave two channels empty?

Depends on the software that would be reading the created EDL. Are EDL’s part of your post workflow? Is there a need for 32 character reel names and why?

By using a 16:9 resolution (eg. 1920×1080, 1280×720) your comp would be 16:9. What are your comp settings and what are your export settings? You probably have a mismatch between those.
