George Thanks for your comment. I have made progress with that project which is satisfying though I have a long way to go. However I am now stymied by a problem I have encountered with ER Media Toolkit. It is a superb program and I have been using it to convert my videos to Pro Res 422 which it has done smoothly. However I was encountering frequent desynchronisation. of the video and audio. As most of my videos do not have full face shots of conversation i didn’t realise the problem. However recent clip showed that this had occurred from using the ER Media Toolkit. I have contacted them for help but just in case things do not work out, can you recommend another programme that you use for creating pro res 422 from M2T or mp4 files. This problem might just arise from my awkward M2T format.
    Thanks
    Terence

I have followed everyone’s advice and sent the information to the Black Magic forum.
    Thanks everyone for the advice.

Hi George. Thanks for your comment. I wrote the note solely to raise the possibility of a bug, not to request help. I have subsequently reported it on the Black Magic forum as I was advised to. I am now struggling with resetting the audio/video synch on clips that were fouled up by some previous programme that I had used. Though not yet successful I have found it easier to use than in 15 though perhaps it just reflects where I am on the learning curve.
I am still accommodating to the need for gobs of disc space for handling the uncompressed files. I am now doubtful that I can fit two year’s videoing onto 8 TB ignoring backup.
    Thanks for your help

p.s. I am a very low quality of student in the matters of Davinci however I recently tried 16 and found that it seemed easier to use than 15 and more intuitive. I am finding more of the important features with less difficulty so I would not go back to 15.
Previously I had trouble with 15 because it would not accept my M2t files and had to learn to use Pro res which works well with both.

No I reported t here with the expectation that someone would pass it on. I don’t know of any formal way of reporting things like this.

HI Thanks for that suggestion. I will explore it. My audio and video are in Prores 442 converted from M2T from a camera.
    Thanks

I apologise for my delay in responding. The text is just something I generated in Da Vinci with the titling option in the effects library. I however always have had the video linked to the audio for synchronisation. I had not thought of unlinking them as I thought that would cause the problem.
I will try that. I t seems that keeping the titles in a separate track seems to isolate it from the audio track so I suppose I could keep it in that track to play before the clip starts up?
I just don’t know the rules for each of these operations and their restriction.
    Thanks

  • George.
That is very helpful. The problem must be in my setup. I have several unfinished projects which used differing locations for the essential files as I tried to sort out whether to put everything on my NAS or not. I have now completely retreated from that idea and will just use it for finished product for sharing. I will sort that out before retrying. I am really enjoying the fluid capability of DVR (though I am just a toddler at this time). I am really happy that I persisted and value the kindness of the community which helped me so much. It is a very clever and beautiful system.

  • George., Fortunately my data had not been converted to the DVR 16 format so I am in good shape and have a lot to do with my present set up . However at some point I would like to upgrade to version 16 . How do I determine when to do this? I will probably wait until later this year, but realise that I should probably stay away from Beta versions.
    Thanks

  • Thanks George. I really appreciate your help
