Anyone have the original Mac OS 9 / OSX software for the Digital Voodoo 64AV card? I need a copy for mine. Was the manual included with that on PDF?

Do you have the original software and manuals? I collect the old video capture/editing cards (I have a Media 100 Nubus setup in an 81/110 Radius computer). If you want to get rid of one I can give it a good home (I can pay shipping plus a token amount). If you have a version that works with OS 9.x/OSX you should be able to get a few dollars for it on ebay. I like the ancient models mostly for analog capture, DV made things a little too easy hardware wise.

    Happy Hollidays!

  • The Avid ABVB board looks like a modified Targa 2000 board so I didn’t expect it to work with premiere (why would Avid bother writing drivers for competing apps). The older Avid card that shipped with the Media Suite Pro setup (MSP) was just a stock Nuvista+ Nubus card and there should be drivers for that (might need a bios flash).

Currently I am sitting on a ABVB card with pyhton 2 but no dongle, I do have a dongle for the MSP 3.0 (with enhanced image) setup but I have no idea if the software for that (which I do not have)would support a newer boardset like the ABVB. Avid seems to have a few systems with somewhat the same hardware but different software (and possible dongles) in their lineup (atleast that is what I can make out of googling). Media 100 did the same thing with their Nubus card, the dongle unlocked features present in the software but used the same hardware. I would think Avid had a seperate diagnostic software application that would check its cards to see if they are OK (media 100 did this). Finding that software would atleast let me know if the cards I have even function, before I waste more time tracking down software I cannot use. At the very least I could use the MSP 3.0 software since the Nuvista+ boards pop up on ebay once in a while to get a working system (since I have the dongle).

This is just a hobby for me, I collect 68K Macs and 68K Nubus cards plus some older x86 ISA video capture cards and a Radius Videovision telecast PCI setup. I just like how video capture had advanced from the early Supermac Spigot (just an RCA video input) to the later generation Avid, Media 100, Targa, Bravada, etc hardware. Finding drivers, manuals, and software for anything pre PCI era is very hard to do (I enjoy the challenge) and seems to be harder as time goes by.

  • Some troubleshooting and 2 patches for specific problems. I was looking for product literature with system name and hardware/software lists plus requirements. It would be nice if I could get the test software for the boards I have and maybe the control panels so that I could atleast test them out using Premiere. I don’t see why they don’t have the old unsupported software and pdf manuals out for download (maybe they do if you are a current paying user, I am not) since you need specific hardware for it to work (and probably a dongle as well).

You can try ebay, they do come up once in a while (that is where I purchased one of mine).
There are a couple versions of the dongle too. One is a basic dongle that allows video capture but no effects (I think if you upgraded your system Media 100 would give you the basic dongle so you could still capture using the old hardware since you had to send in the old dongle). Then there is the full deal dongle that allows special editing effects.

I do not know if the dongle itself has been cracked or not to allow operation of the software without it.

Out of curiosity what software version do you have, and what Mac did you get it in? My 100 is currently in a Quadra 950 but I might transfer it to a Quadra 800 along with a Jackhammer SCSI card. Most people use Radius 81/100 setups.

I think the Media Suite pro setup used the Nuvista+ card and advanced Jpeg board (different from mine), going to have to get a boardset and see (still need software for that even with a working dongle).

The ABVB card looks quite a bit like the Targa 2000 Nubus except for the custom a/v input Avid daughter card. I tried using the Targa 2000 drivers but they could not find the card (not surprised, different ROM).

Basically I need some diagnostic software to test these cards to see if they are 100% working, and I cannot find any on the net. I would think that because you need a working dongle, and these cards are so old and no longer supported somebody would have a website dedicated to them with driver downloads, but I can not find anything.

I used a utility to get the following information on the cards in my Quadra 950:

Avid Advanced Jpeg Board Part#: 2500-4710-10 Rev 10 (Janus II board?)
Avid Broadcast Video Board SM 1034zx23-6 Rev 1.2d3 (ABVB)

The Jpeg board has a cable that goes to the ABVB board. and there is a fatter cable (connected to the middle of the daughtercard) that goes to a metal bracket, what is that cable for?

What version of Media Composer works for these cards and how can I snag a copy (I asume the Mac Nubus versions are no longer supported by Avid, and I am just doing this for a hobby anyway)? Is there a dongle needed for this setup? A friend is sending me a dongle labled MSP 3.0 Dongle with EDL option and Enhanced image. Can I use the boards above with those cards (I think they were for the Nuvista+ board)?

Is there a link for utilities that will check the functionality of the cards listed above?

    I live in Ohio/USA.

Somebody emailed me a test archive (my unit passed) and Media 100 2.6.2 install (and that worked). I would still like the CD Image for 2.6.2 (because I heard the manuals are in PDF on the cd), or the manual for the hardware and software in PDF format.

I tested my unit in a Q950 and with that setup the software said I can do 80K (per frame) of capture. Not sure what machine I will end up keeping the unit it, but getting up to 300K would be nice (I have a SCSI 68pin UWSCSI tower with 5x 9GB drives that I use with my Q840av that I can borrow).
