Well, I put a compression marker at the beginning and another one at the end of the movie – not really sure what a compression marker is or whether chapter markers at these locations would have been more appropriate; perhaps you could explain.

Once that was done, the subsequent export and import into IDVD created the desired chapter headings.

Thank you very much for your help!!!

I placed the cursor in the timeline where I wanted a chapter marker to be placed. I pressed “M” – that set the marker; then I pressed “M” again, which brought up the dialogue about the kind of marker I wanted: from this “Edit Marker” dialogue I selected “Add Chapter Marker”.

From File menu I selected “Export” “QuickTime Movie”; from the subsequent “Save” dialogue I selected “DVD Studio Pro Markers” (at other times I had selected “Chapter Markers” – neither worked when it came to looking at the movie in IDVD.)

I did NOT put a marker at the beginning of the sequence – might that be the cause of the problem?

    Hi,

Yes, the chapter markers are in the timeline ruler (where we see the acutal time & frame count of the movie) in the timeline. Pressing Shift key with up or down arrow jumps to next marker, so they seem to be there and in the right place, but they won’t export.

Chapter markers are also visible in the Canvas window. I had selected the Timeline Sequence when exporting as a QuickTime movie. all to no avail.
