December 11, 2015 at 5:08 am in reply to: FCP X wants my attention (El Capitan), icon, app switching driving me crazy. It was an update. However this wasn’t an issue with the first version of El Capitan. I’ll do some more digging. I hadn’t considered that this is an isolated occurrence that only I am experiencing.

Why does the app try to grab focus though from other apps; essentially switching you out of another app? What was the necessity that Apple felt the need for FCP X to do this? Sometimes when it’s busy (such as importing an XML) I do something else. I don’t need nor want it to take me out of what I am doing. I am trying to figure out some rational behind this and can’t.
There must be a way to disable this feature.

December 7, 2015 at 5:29 pm in reply to: Two computers, same plugin, one offline – what to do?Projects from copies of the same library; one on my work computer and one on a thunderbolt drive connected to my personal computer.
Work computer:
effect id=”r48″ name=”Sound only” uid=”~/Transitions.localized/Sound only/Sound only.motr”Personal computer:
effect id=”r41″ name=”Sound only” uid=”~/Transitions.localized/Sound only/Sound only.motr”Seems like the locations are the same. Yet on my personal computer I have the red frame with yellow exclamation marked yield sign wherever the Sound Only transition is.
It’d be nice if that yield sign were clickable so FCP X would tell me what it’s issue is.

Coincidentally Motion generators that I’ve created and in the same directory (other than the same user account) between different computers don’t always work; particularly ones with drop zones even though I have the media in both copies of the FCP X library.

This is something that really annoys me. I wish all plugins were at the computer level, not user.

December 2, 2015 at 2:36 am in reply to: Method or tool to isolate processed clips (for sync or mutlicam)? That’s correct. That is more what I am interested in – the browser level, not the storyline level. Basically a way to not have to wonder – ‘did I sync those yet’.
Two features that would be amazing that I think a company like Apple could/would create would be:
1: A way to mark clips as being able to be synced with other clips (just so there’s an easy way to at least identify clips that should be synchronized or multicamed.
2: A speech recognition tech. in FCP X that can identify scene, shot/take from the audio and put that in the appropriate fields for sorting, syncing, purposes. And also identify clapper sounds and place a marker on the clip.
