Hi!
I’m also new to FCPX (since yesterday:) and while googling for same issue I got here so probably there is not much reasonable explanation on this topic.

I’d like to understand this a bit better having some more doubts. Let’s say I want to apply Color Board, Color Curves and Hue/Saturation effects separately to some area and outside of that area. Assuming the required mask is quite complex – do I need to recreate it manually for each effect?

If there is any good reading/video on this topic I’d be happy to have a look.
