Thanks very much, both. Yes, firewire = iLink, I now realise. And the cable doesn’t come with the Sony but is an optional extra. I now have one and the camera can communicate with FCP.
However…
1. I cannot listen to the audio as I play and capture through FCP even though it plays on the camera speaker, and,
2. There is a terrible ‘rippling’ occuring (broad, dark, strobing lines) most noticeably around the edge line of a subject, whenever there is camera movement or subject motion within frame. I have tried a variety of different “Basic Settings” but nothing seems to alleviate the problem.
Again, system is Sony DSR-PDX10P recording to Mini DV, Final Cut Pro 5 and PowerBook G4 running 10.4.10.
Again, any advice for a newbie would be much appreciated.
