Thanks for the help. I removed the black video (a hold out from final cut slug) under text and viola.

yes. 100% opacity @ 34 frames. 100 % Key frame is a full 8sec in.

Thanks for the post. I have tried several methods but my usual way is what is shown. That is, simple keyframes in the timeline so I can sync with the music, then fine tune in effects panel. Frame by frame is still a speedy fade in. Trying to do a long slow one – all I get is one second no matter what I try. I have tried rendering, saving and restarting – no change…
I have never uploaded a screen shot…hope this works
