Well, all my installers exited cleanly and I’ve been using Final Cut Studio 3 fine for several months. I found this form post:

Showing there is potential problem that the ProKit framework is installed. I have a feeling the update botched the installation, possibly installing the Snow Leopard version on my Leopard system. That might be why updated to 10.6 fixes this issue for some people.

I wish there was just some way to uninstall/rollback those updates. I’m pretty sure everything would work fine if I could.

Final Cut Pro 7.0.2 according to the splash screen.

Apple QMaster doesn’t start either. Compressor gets further than the others but still crashes. Motion loads fine.

    OS X 10.5.8

I’ve got Snow Leopard and a spare 1TB. I’ve been meaning to install it on the desktop for a while. This seems a good a time as any.

I have the exact same problem on Mac OS 10.5.8. It only started happening recently and I looked at my update logs. It seems to have started after I did software updated on 4/6/10, namely Quicktime 7.6.6, ProKit 5.1 and Pro Applications Update 2010-01 (1.0).

I think these updates are what killed Final Cut Pro.

Also, fresh install? Seriously?! That’s not a solution. That’s a lot of time and a lot of effort for something Apple obviously broke in an update. You should never have to do a “Fresh Install” of the OS on a production system to fix an issue with a single set of applications.
