I might try when I get time.

It is a super/dupper Acer laptop, with a lot of RAM and 16 GB video RAM and Intel Skylake i7 chipset. I had never noticed it get over-heated. I used to use Dell before, but gave up on them since 3 years. Dell quality is going down the drain. My last $2000 Dell laptop 3 years ago was nothing but trouble.

Already did that during troubleshooting. BTW: It is a 1 TB SSD. CHKDSK does not do much for an SSD, but I do run it once in a while. I also ran the SSD utility to check it. Memory test also reported no errors.

Video driver was updated 3 days ago. There was no video driver update, I checked it.

I checked Windows automatic updates and there was none after Vegas stopped working.

I did think of these issues, along with other possible reasons, while I was troubleshooting. That is why I said, “Nothing had changed.”

    Thanks Francois,

I logged into my account and downloaded the installer. After updating, it prompted for SOfwtware license and re-registration of software, which is surprising! That means, each time I update to the newest build, one of my license key is going to be consumed? Very unprofessional way of applying an update!!!

    Ho Francois!

How do I do that? Vegas 14 does not have an update option, like most software do. MAGIX website has no information that new builds are available. Vegas 14v on start does not prompt that new builds/update are available. I do not believe MAGIX is qualified enough to maintain a software such as VEGAS!!!!

Now Vegas Pero 14 is crashing way too much. Sometimes it crashes in the mid of rendering a clip, sometime on exit, and other time while saving a project. v14 seems to be way too much buggy than v13. I do not think MAGIX has resources and capabilities for a professional software. They may be OK with consumers play tools for editing video. I feel pity for udating to v14. I am seriously considering moving to another NLE.

Maybe, I did Layout reset as I always did with v13. Although, in case of v14, I had not changed anything Layout. So far I had rendered over 50 clips and no annoying crash when Exiting v14.

  • Actually, on my system after executing the MAGIX Vegas Pro Trial version installer, it downloaded the program in %Appdata%\local\temp\SonyInstall_1

After installation was complete, I moved the “SonyInstall_1” folder to my external disk for archiving/backup purpose.

You will also find C:\Users\\Documents\MAGIX Downloads\Installationsmanager\VEGAS_Pro_14.0.0.161_Trial_14_0_0_161.exe

Thanks for the response. I did understand that it was just an annoyance, as it was in v13. Demo version was working perfect till I activated with a serial number. I bought the Vegas Pro Edit, because I already have BCC and Titler Pro v4 latest versions, and the one which shipped with so-called Vegas Pro Suite are outdated ancient versions.

Regardless, when I had this issue with v13, I did a layout reset to default. Let’s see if it helps with v14.

It is HD display. I had set it to 150% otherwise fonts are too small.

Any way I tried your suggestion, and changed the display to 100%. Still same problem.
