I honestly can’t stress enough how useful upgrading to motion5 has been since the updates. It all seems to run a lot smother!

A fix would be to just use the drop zone as a reference and animate it yourself. You can drop the clip into the project then drag the properties from the drop zone on to the image and it will keep all the keyframes. Could you email me the project and I can take a look at what it is you are trying todo? I just need the project with drop zones, no media.

Hmmmm Its tough with out seeing it. Is the second layer tracking the image or the first layer? There should nt be any need to go in to 3D.

A drop zone works pretty much the same way as any thing else you put in to motion. You can change the shape by squashing or stretching to fit the correct aspect ration of the image. Simply click the image and you will notice 8 blue dots (if you are using motion5 clear dots if not). Click on any of the dots and move them around. you will notice that when you move the dot the image shape changes. Just adjust it so it fits!

I have a bit of a love hate relationship with the tracker in motion. It seems to go wrong more often then it goes right. Do you have track points on the object you want to track?

    Hey

I have spent a lot of today trying to work this out and i think i have a solution. Mark when i tried your way it wouldn’t let me track the 2 geometry points to 2 different objects.

i.e point 1 follows first dot up and point 2 follows a second dot down.

So I animated the dots and then baked then selection creating a mov file with my animation. the i could track the dots as one object. If there is a more organic way to do this i would love to know because this feels like a work around.

  • I found that changing the default open with application to an older version of motion sorted that problem.
