Yes, it’s a workaround.. but right now it means I don’t have editorial screaming at me with black frames in their images.

I have been liasing with BM guys directly in Singapore so they’re well aware of the issue and looking into it.

    Paul,
I’ve found that our black frame issue was the result of using Arri Rec709 LUt as a track LUT.
Switching to Output LUT has solved the issue.

No, not pulling the media through 10GigE card. It’s coming from an external RAID connected to MacPro, being processed to MXF then recorded back out on same array. There is no other activity going on when we do this in order to safeguard the process. The project is 1920×1080 24p (not 23.98). We are actually slowing the render speed down to 25fps (no 24 setting) so that we can QC the shots as well, hence we’ve covered most of the bases.

When we do get a frame of black, it’s easy to see as it flashes on the GUI monitor, followed 12 frames later on the broadcast output.

    Thanks Juan…
Actually I made a mistake in my post.. I have two 4GB GTX680 (not 690).

The other cards inside the CUBIX are a 10GB card and a USB3/SATA card.
The problem is very intermittent so quite hard to pin point.

    Hi Glenn,
Did you have any luck with the 690 card ? I’d be curious to know the results…

January 16, 2012 at 1:25 am in reply to: resolve and smoke on mac

    Hi Rob,
    Thanks for that…
I don’t need ProRes write, just the ability to read (mainly ProRes from Alexa). But yes, the AJA and BM cards are my biggest headache.

If I went the two system route (Resolve on Win7, smoke on MAC), does anyone know how if I could share FC storage between the two (providing I have a FC switch). smoke on MAC uses DPX file structure but I’m unsure what filesystem would be readable by both.

I wish one of these products supported the other’s IO card… it would solve so many issues.

    Cheers

    Guys,
I have two gtx580 in SLI config in an existing system and am thinking of testing the WIN version.
Is SLI useful for Resolve or are we better off to have separate cards?
    Cheers

    Hi guys,
    Thanks for all the replies.
I ended up buying a Geforce GTX550Ti and it works perfectly, no stutter or frame delay.

This card was only released in March and here in Oz was $169.

    Cheers,
    Steve

February 1, 2011 at 1:32 pm in reply to: Cubix slot config for resolve

    Hi Rohit and Nick,
Been following your posts re. Cubix expander.
I am about to buy a new resolve setup.

I have the chance to buy two GTX285’s that were PC versions that have been flashed. Do any of you know if these cards end up being EXACTLY the same as an OEMGTX285 for MAC?

Rohit, I would probably get the OEM ATI5870 for GUI and possibly 2 x GTX285’s inside Cubix. Do you see any issues with that setup?

Lastly, I have a spare 2007 XServe RAID (14 x 500GB).. Do you see that having enough throughput for doing 10bit HD uncompressed?

    Regards,
    Steve
