that’s what I figured. I am going to just create two movies one with and one without the captions. Since they are only 1/2 hour, I should be able to creat a DVD with an hour’s worth of material and not take a quality hit.

I was maunally typing them in within Encore. But even if I imported a text file (with the correct tc and format) it still can’t do dissolves.

Does this mean I could put a Quicktime movie on the top track with alpha channel to overlay titles on a avi movie on the track below? I am doing a program where I want to be able to turn off and on graphics that tell the viewer where the scenes were shot. If I use regular subtitles they just pop on and off and I can’t get a nice dissolve. With two tracks I might be able to do what I described above, and also have the movie without the Quicktime on another timeline. One could then switch between the two timelines.

I have a Libec H50 (bought as B stock from Mathews after NAB), with gitzo 75mm ball carbon fiber legs, and the system has worked well for many years. They are right, the little screws can come loose and need to be “locktited”. BTW, I have been using it with a Sony DSR 300. I also have a larger Libec with O’Connor carbon fiber sticks for my Betacam…again, no problems.
For the FX1 I have a carbon fiber Bogen and low end Bogen head…the jury’s is still out, but I wanted minimum weight rather than ruggedness and good balance. I often use it for back country B roll, and the old knees or pretty bad.

I had the same problem with Premiere Pro 1.0 trying to open 6.0 projects. I found a free utility on the net that fixed some sort of error in the project file header and then they opened fine. I don’t seem to have it around any more, but it was a life saver. I couldn’t readily Google it up, but some of the things here might be related: https://www.stevengotz.com/miscellaneous.htm
It did seem like I used some sort of vbl script to fix the issue. Sorry I can’t be more specific.

Strange…my endless loops work fine…just the discs themselves burn up.
Now I have made some that put the same movie on repeatedly, instead of just plaing the 15minute section over and over. I have the movies layed on 5 times, and then it starts over. I will hear back as to how they are working. I did use more expensive media and burned at 1X.

I guess the camera must be bad…I tried the Connect HD software and it doesn’t see it either. I turned off all the HDV to DV conversion settings in the camera (when operating as a VCR). In fact I have tried all the combinations conceivable. If I had access to another camera or a deck I could verify the problem. It is hard to believe that the device control works for DV projects and not HDV.

All those 3 settings were correct, still no go. Everything works fine except for HDV capture. I can control the camera and digitze into a HDV project with the HDV to DV turned on in the camera, and use either Matrox or DV capture device controls.

I just installed SP2 and the updates and rebooted but it still doesn’t work. I have the camera set to output HDV and all the settings in the HDV project are set to HDV. However when the camera is set to convert the HDV to DV, the capture works fine (eliminating cable issues, etc)

thanks..I am taking baby steps towards editing this format.
