Hey Jim thanks for the info, your response helped me out. I do not have photoshop as of yet, so I found a work around. I used your idea, I went to google typed in 1920×1080 wallpaper images. Many came up, I down loaded them and converted them to a (Tiff) and they filled the whole screen and look really great!
Now I need to find out how to play moving images for keying. I’m thinking to just record the background footage into a source with a HDMI out and plug it into one of the HDMI (in) ports? The hit play. Or as you said maybe it would be helpful to read the operations manuel first eh? Either way thanks so much for your response

December 3, 2013 at 8:35 pm in reply to: Can anyone Recommend a Quicktime HD recorder?Hello Paolo I did not know that the ATEM had a recorder in it? How again would I do this? So are you saying record the footage into the mac I have the atem switcher on? Or are you saying I need to hook up an another computer to capture the recorded footage? If so, how and where do i hook that up to? Also you mentioned media express? I am a bit confused about it all, but thanks for your help pal, it is so appreciated!

December 2, 2013 at 5:24 pm in reply to: Can anyone Recommend a Quicktime HD recorder?Hey thanks for your advice pal..So what you are saying is the Hyperdeck shuttle 2 records in quicktime (Compressed for i-movie) and (un-compressed for final cut x) right? If that is the case that would solve all my problems! You asked how am I controlling the ATEM, I am controlling the switcher through a desktop mac. I also have a dual screen HD monitor, one is the camera displays, the other is the master output.
Thanks for taking the time to respond buddy, best to you!

November 4, 2013 at 5:11 pm in reply to: Can anyone Recommend a Quicktime HD recorder? Thanks Glen for your advice, I will check out the deck. I just need to make sure it can also record in (compressed quicktime) so files can be used in i-movie.

Hi Eric thanks for your response, all was set up correctly that why it was really messing with my head. I finally figured it out last night before I left the studio, it only took me 3 hours! It was the camera that was the culprit. I went into the menu and tuned off the 1080i output. Now i had tried to do that before but it was grayed out in the menu with no access. I then disconnected the HDMI from it, accessed the menu again and now i was able to turn it off. Once I did, I re-installed the HDMI output…blam! It works great!

As a high school video teacher trying to upgrade all my studio analog gear to HD, I also am thinking of purchasing the Black magic ATEM $995.00 unit for our student run studio. However, after reading and searching countless reviews of this product, it seems to be a big headache setting this thing up. I think Black magic should be more clear on what it takes to run this product. I agree it is a great price for a high quality switcher but I had to do tons of research to find out that their are audio sync problems and that I need to buy the Behringer SRC unit to fix this, as well as other items like the HDMI lengths and work arounds.
Has anyone purchased the Panasonic AG-HMX 100 HD switcher? From what I understand it seems to work right out of the box, simple and straight forward. Or does anyone have any other suggestions other than the Black Magic unit?
Thanks Steve
