I have to give credit where credit is do, after a couple phone calls to Apple Business they did agree to comp. me the upgrade.
It was based on two reason’s I missed the automatic update period by 2 days and when I ordered the FCP I also ordered my Mac took 3 – 4 weeks to arrive so I couldn’t even load Final cut until almost May.

I want to thank everyone for the feedback as I am sure as I move forward I will be reading more post’s. The one thing that came through load and clear is FCP X is not the same product as FCP 7.03.
However I did ask at the Apple Store if the are still selling the older version and they are not and the only upgrades going forward will be for FCP X.
If FCP X doesn’t have the muscle for high end user’s they must have another plan comming …

Like I mention I was new to the MAC & FCP (somewhat). However I did know about the rumor at the time however when I asked for more details at the Apple store they could not give me any details ie: When it was coming out and most importantly what form it was going to come out in. Was it going to be stripped version of the real thing or a new version of the Pro version. It was also implied there would be some upgrade path and to be honest there is it just cost $300.00.

As I said I am new too this. My reason for buying FCP was so I could be compatible with other experienced editors and do the very basics. Then hand it off to them to work the magic. More like on offline edit ( in the old days ). I guess one quustion I would have is can a user for the Suite 3 open a FCP file from X.
I would expect long time users would also be upset haveing there Proffesional product distibuted to any home user at off the store shelf prices.
