Good to know that there is a way to bring everything up again.
Your experience would help in case I have to bring up the work again in the old version (although I hope it never happens.. lol, and the update process and then projects work out correctly after the update).

So, I mean.. the correct way is to:
1. First backup the projects I’m currently working on in resolve 12.5.
2. Make a backup of the backup, in case.. I have to reopen them in 12.5 later (coz the original backup would be modified by version 14).
3. Uninstall 12.5 (free version).
4. Install 14 (free version).
5. And then 14 will read the projects and then open them and continue working.Right..?

January 12, 2017 at 3:35 pm in reply to: Is output blanking destructive or non destructiveSo, Glenn, if i apply the blanking in my project and later if i want to say change the size of the blanking or remove it, whatever, and let’s say if i remove it in the project, then does that removing or changing the blanking alter my video files in project in any way..? The resolution of the video clips in the project, the project’s timeline..
I mean its non destructive, right..?Best,

January 8, 2017 at 6:04 pm in reply to: Is output blanking destructive or non destructiveAnd also, if once applied, the output blanking, can we unapply it later..? Without any reduction in the resolution of the video whatsoever..

Hey man! I posted you a reply but somehow its not getting posted below your message.. Its getting posted as a separate message, in this thread only, but as a separate message..

Man!! Timo Teravainen, you are the man!! Thanx a ton!
You got it exactly what I was looking for! This is what I was looking for, precisely this.
I was also going through the Resolve’s reference manual (before i tried what you suggested) and came across this process you told, which is called ‘match frame’, now i know..
Anyways I already made a new project, while i was looking for another way and was initially doing the lengthy process, so now I’m continuing within the new project only and copy/pasting the clips from the xml to the new project and building my timeline by replacing the mono audio tracks with the original media using this match frame process.
But there’s one more thing that I would like to know, that, is the video also replaced by the original source video..? I mean the clip’s video in the video track also replaced by the original source video, along with the source audio, or is it only the audio which gets replaced with the original audio? In Resolve’s manual its said that by this match frame process you can get the clip in the timeline replaced with the original source media, which i believe includes the video too… But just to make sure…Best,

January 8, 2017 at 5:56 pm in reply to: Is output blanking destructive or non destructiveThanks for the reply Eric.
If you can do the test it would be a really great.. Wanna be sure… I know and you’re right its really easy setting the output blanking on the whole project.. That’s what I’m inclined for too.. but.. wanna b sure.. Having said that though, i wouldn’t mind doing something a little time consuming option rather than the easy one, if the time consuming option is better..
Does the output banking reduce the overall resolution..?
By the way which movie did you edit..? I mean is it released and all?Best,

To the video…
I mean is output blanking the same as putting a .jpg letterbox image template on the topmost video track?Best,

Hey Glenn! Thanx for replying.
The thing is that the stereo track was imported as two separate mono tracks so the track could be converted to stereo and so could the attributes but the thing is that, that one mono track does not hold all the details of the sound original stereo track.. So.. I guess converting the mono track to stereo would not include the details which are in the second, the other imported mono track of the stereo audio…
Anyways to answer your question, no, i haven’t tried doing that, coz i don’t think it would do what i’m looking for..for the above mentioned reason..
But really thanx for the help. Appreciate it!
And yeah, i got my solution! Its called match frame process! Thus has solved my issue.Best,
Steve
