I’m not sure FCP6 will work with Lion, it’s not officially supported, you could leave a Snow Leopard partition on your drive or install Lion on a separate drive to be sure.
I’m one of the few that like and use FCPX for my professional work. You have to bear in mind it’s a version 1.0 piece of software and there is LOTS missing. If you can give us an idea of your workflows and the sort of work you do then that would help.

Apple doesn’t mind you thinking they are related, but it’s strange how they aren’t pushing iMovie as a selects tool for clients anywhere in their marketing. It’s a great concept that seems to have been overlooked.
Personally I don’t care if they are related at a code level, it would seem to be a waste of resources if they weren’t. It also doesn’t make me think any less of FCPX if it is.

“Most of the larger earners on YouTube aren’t making movies and a lot of what they do wouldn’t translate to film or possibly even Network TV. They are playing to a generation who’s viewing habits most of us don’t understand or can even hope to predict.
I’m not saying FCPX is for them, it’s just there is an emergence going on in YT that will pass most of us by.

OK it makes sense now! I don’t want to sound patronising but we all work differently, for some of us FCPX has advantages in our workflow, for others clearly not, I don’t think you need to understand it.

I can’t make FCPX work reliably on my Lion partition at the moment, but ironically 7 runs fine! So I’ m using FCPX in 10.68.
