  • “The titler support transparancy but not a gradient.”

Sigh…and things like this are why I hardly ever create my titles in Titler.

  • Simply ask for a Photoshop file(PSD). That should alleviate any misunderstanding, since the alpha channel will be there.

  • Again, there is no alpha channel in that PNG(it’s 24 bit), so there can be no transparency.

Usually your placeholders are pre-comps, so you can easily scale and crop inside the pre-comp placeholder. As far as the number of pictures/number of placeholders, some of the templates I’ve used were designed to loop seamlessly. If your particular templates aren’t designed this way, it shouldn’t be much of a stretch for someone with AE knowledge to make it loopable.

I’ve used many ‘slideshow’ templates. Depending of who creates them, and from what repository they were purchased from, I’ve have very good luck with them. Typically, the ‘slideshow’ type templates have placeholder graphics where you can simply ‘Alt-drag’ your photos onto to replace them, and you’re good to go with very little, if any, manipulation on your part.

It appears that the required codec may not be installed on your laptop. Determine what codec was used to encode the video, then you can figure out how to install it.

Dave’s being sarcastic. Rotoscoping, even with the Rotobrush, is tedious and slow, especially compared to Keylight, or Ultra Key in Premiere. That being said, you might want to have a look at Red Giant’s Unmult effect. It’s made for keying out black specifically. But still, setting up a good green screen shoot is probably the way to go. I addition to the usual caveats that you’ll find for that type of shoot, here are a couple that may help immensely –

    – Place your subject as far from the green screen as is possible to help eliminate spill onto their hair and shoulders.

    – Filter the hairlight/backlight with a ‘minus green’ gel which is a very light pink hue. This can help to counteract any edge spill that may occur.

    – Do not overlight the green screen.

    – Use a smartphone app such as Green Screener to check the evenness of the lighting on the green screen.

For remote control, I currently use the free version of Teamviewer. However, I have tried editing with it and a couple of other paid services, but they were plagued with latency issues with both audio and video playback – even with very fast internet speeds. I mean, it’s certainly possible to edit remotely this way, but you will soon hate it, and soon after that abandon it.

Make the ‘line’ part a lot easier, and take a look at a script called ‘Speed Lines’.

We do! However, before we used the Zoom as a USB audio interface, we used a Scarlett 2i2 as one, and it worked just as well.
