Yep I’ve been working with the same problem for nearly a week. Trouble is that I dont use Vegas every day so dont know when it actually packed up working. I double click my desktop icon and it appears for about 2s in the task manager and then nothing.

I installed updates for iTunes and Windows 7 including service pack 1. My suspicions are that Vegas perhaps does not like Microsoft.Net Framework 4 install since the spec for Vegas states that.NET v3 is required and is included on the install disc. So I went to the knowledge base at Sony creative and followed the Clean Uninstall and Reinstall instructions for Windows 7. After doing all the deletions and reg edits I reinstalled Sv and it still did not work.

However in the programs list I noticed that there were still no MS.NET items so I tried to install v3 of the same from the MS support site. It told me I had a more recent version still installed which is strange since I dont see it in the program list.

I have again restored my computer since programs like Nero could not work after the changes I made.

So does anybody have any ideas ? Am I barking up the wrong tree on this MS.NET v4 idea or just barking mad.

It did happen once before I remember but I thought then it was some I had done. The only way back then was a full clean install of Windows 7 and everthing that goes with it. Makes for a fast tidy machine but hey life’s too short and it reduces your edit time !

It will soon be sunny again…. I hope

I used your advice on regarding image sizes to prevent the same thing from happening in SV Platinum 10 and it worked a treat. I thought that it was happening because I had the wrong render settings since the memory on my pc was never more than circa 50% utilized.

However having spent an age looking for a solution it is clear that this is a general issue which is further complicated since there are those of us using SV with machines having insufficent memory or cpu power and those that have more than enough RAM and CPU speed. Now that I know what appears to have caused this problem I can work accordingly but I would be cautious about recommending SV to someone which is a shame since its a great piece of software.

Regarding the install of s/vegas 64bit I have a couple of questions. 1) where can you see which version you have ? I looked all over my original packaging and it does not say that it is 32 or 64bit ready. 2) what kind of difference would it make if I ran 32bit s/ware on a 64bit machine and 3) would I be able to just download the 64bit trial and use my serial and key from the version I have ?

With regards to question 2) I actually used the 64bit trial download for a couple of weeks before I made the purchase of 10 from an online supplier and I have not noticed anything different in render speeds etc.

It will soon be sunny again…. I hope
